Wanted: photo editor

December 4, 2008

Quick — what is this?

If you said a yellow fetus floating next to three red blobs, you’re in agreement with my mother and me.

If you said a drink called “The Normandy,” you’re correct.

The usually redoubtable New York Times Magazine used this picture in its weekly food article, this one about Calvados. It’s hard for me to believe that someone found this image appetizing.

What do you think? Are we seeing things?

  1. I thought raw egg. I certainly didn’t think, ooh, I’ll drink that. This photo has no feng shui.

  2. Well, I recognized it as a drink, but not the type. Still. Not appealing. Wouldn’t an overhead shot of a martini be more appealing?

  3. I thought it looked like a drink with fruit floating in it but now after reading your post, I just see fetus!

  4. You are not seeing things.

Skimming and I saw fetus and blood. Not appetizing at all. Immediately wondered what kind of product was using a fetus for a logo/promotion.

Came over from logodesignlove.com. Nice site you have here.
