George Lange

I find I can’t look away from George Lange’s video flipbook. The stop frame animation is really cool and synced up nicely to the music, but mostly he’s a pretty amazing photographer. 95% of these pictures totally blow me away.

  1. Oopoh, Bruce Springsteen trivia: he covered this song on his 2005 acoustic tour. I actually like this version better. That aside, LOVE these photos and love the animation - the cheerleading section is pretty amazing, as is the dog Elizabethan collar guy. My favorite, though, is Clive Owen. I know, that is so obvious and I am such a soccer mom, but, um, yum?

  2. George Lange writes of Clive Owen: “He is one of these 95% subjects – where 95% of the shots are perfect.” I believe it.

You should also check out his Israel flipbook (look for the link). The dancer in front of the wall is unbelievable.

Thanks for commenting! I’ve been feeling a little lonely here…

  3. Wow - that Israel piece is incredible. The little boy with the tennis balls and the dancer are my favorites. The dancer piece is wonderful - that one shot where it’s just the blurry arm and hand and the wall in the frame - fantastic.

Have I ever gushed about my favorite photographer: http://www.corbijn.co.uk/

I discovered him because he used to shoot depeche mode when I was into them. He shoots u2 a lot, too, but I just love his stuff regardless of who’s in the picture. The contrast and the texture of the images — metallic and grainy-gritty at the same time — is just striking. I see a lot of people trying to copy his style, too.
