January 10, 2008

I love to read about design, and since you’re here, I’m guessing you do, too (unless you’re one of my friends IRL. Hi you guys). If you’re looking to expand your design and marketing blog horizons, here are a few of the blogs and sites you’ll find in my Feed Reader. Highly recommended, all.

A List Apart
“For people who make websites”. The uber source for design and programming articles and tips.

adfreak
Serious marketing insight, totally hilarious site.

AIGA Design Forum: Voice: AIGA Journal of Design
Voice: AIGA Journal of Design is an online publication for the discussion of design matters, featuring insightful interviews, engaging essays and thoughtful criticism. Voice encourages respectful reader feedback and seeks to inspire like contributions to enhance and go beyond the subjects raised in this forum. This is what the articles sound like, too. Don’t let that deter you — this is a great resource.

Be A Design Group
Be A Design Group is a blog for graphic designers. Our authors are all practicing designers, and that is the main audience that we write to. We talk a lot about graphic design, but we also talk about technology, branding, advertising, blogging, books, music, photography, typography, Apple, direct mail, logos, Legos, Transformers and pretty much anything we are excited about.

Brand New
If you’re interested in case studies about branding and logo design, this is a site you shouldn’t miss.

David Airey :: Logo and Graphic Designer
I love David Airey. His blog is chock full of design and marketing insight. And he’s a very nice guy.

Design Observer: Main Posts
Writing on design and culture. The editors and writers are serious heavy hitters in the design world: Michael Bierut, William Drenttel, Jessica Helfand, Andrew Blauvelt, Steven Heller, Rick Poynor, Adrian Shaughnessy, Dmitri Siegel, Alice Twemlow, Tom Vanderbilt, and Lorraine Wild.

Graphic Define Magazine
Graphic Define Online Magazine is all about encouraging professionals in the graphic, web, and interactive industries to share their tips and experiences that have helped them in their business endeavors.

i love typography
All about shoes. I joke. Fantastic site and a wonderful place to learn more about the nuts and bolts of type.

Karly Barrett :: Graphic Designer
A relatively new blog, which I really enjoy. Karly has interesting insights into the business and practice of design.

Layer Tennis Blog
My dream come true — weekly virtual graphic design smackdowns.

Logopond - Identity inspiration
Logo designs submitted from some amazing international designers. Very inspiring.

Quipsologies | From the Authors
Quipsologies, a division of Underconsideration, is bent on keeping the design community aware of as many things as possible through an ever-growing cluster of creative morsels found on- and off-line. Emphasis on morsels. Lots of posts, lots of things to see.

The Book Design Review
I love books. I love book design. I love this blog.

You can also download an OPML file of all of these feeds here.

Enjoy!

  6. Wow Leslie,

I just noticed yesterday that you were linking to my site. Things got crazy busy for me over the holidays and I found myself with less time for reading other blogs, but now I’m back at it. Thanks for sharing the blog love.
